Civil Comments - User Guide

Welcome! If you're reading this, it likely means that a site you comment on is switching to Civil Comments, a new platform built for high-quality on-page conversations. Civil is designed for moderation "by the people, for the people" — the system relies on you to help keep comments on-track. Each time you post a comment, you'll be asked to rate the quality and civility of a few other comments. It's quick, and fun!

Note: "Civil" does not mean necessarily mean "nice". Comments, particularly on challenging topics, need room for disagreement and debate; even passionate debate. We don't all have to agree, but we must be able to disagree without personal insults, harassment, and abuse.
